Tesla plans for 500,000 cars yearly to roll off European production lines
American company Tesla electric cars will produce 500,000 vehicles a year at its plant near Berlin.
Elon Musk announced in November that its first European plant - and, after the Shanghai plant, the second outside America - would be built near the new Berlin-Brandenburg International Airport (BER).
According to Tesla documents released this weekend, the Grünheide plant, located about 10 kilometers southeast of the Berlin city limits, will produce Model 3 and Model Y cars, as well as models that are in the pipeline.
Tesla expects to launch production at Gigafactory 4 in July 2021.
Tesla set sales targets of 360-400,000 for 2019.
